JETT
finally landed EXACTLY where he is supposed to be after his wonderful
start with his fosterers! He now joins another GHF adopter who lost one of
their beloved BC's and saw Jett as the ideal fit to join their pack. Both
volunteers met together and it was so clear that Jett did indeed fit their
family, two legged and four legged! He loved his two canine friends, both
GHF alums! So, Jett will enjoy his own 10 acres plus a nearby 400 that is
filled with bridges, woods, creeks and pastures which Jett will love! This
little guy loved his new dog friends and quickly cuddled with his new
guardians. The great joy was also bringing together two volunteers who
have been a part of the Farm since it started - both share a deep love for
Border Collies and rescue - so it was very poignant that this little pup
who survived thanks to rescue, landed in the care of people who really
understand and really care! He now lives in upstate NY!
JETT:
A
6 month old old Border Collie, Jett is a remarkable little guy, so focused
and present, clearly on a mission. He is smart and observes everything
around him, eager to be involved. Jett is very intense, high energy and
busy, busy, busy. He is sweet as they come but will need savvy BC
guardians since he is looking for a job to do. He'll be happiest in an
active home and with another BC friend for play, to help manage his energy
needs. He is completely healthy and raring to go. Jett is OK with
dog savvy cats. Jett
came from the NY area when guardians surrendered him to our vet due to
illness. Jett loves the water and his trail
walks, a happy guy with lots of energy!

FLETCH
now known as Fletcher found the place he wants to be - right where he is!
He's been in rescue 13 months to help him with confidence issues so he's
had the lucky chance of being with one of our fosterers who gave him a big
life of meeting lots of people; trying agility and living with her other
dogs and horses on her farm. Well, he LOVED it! And, while he gave
her challenges like being a non-stop fence jumper and horse chaser, he
also won her heart day after day. So, today's email sealed the deal: He
loves the family and he loves it here. He has a big circle of
friends now and he continues to grow. Someday he might even be
"normal," whatever that is. Hopefully someday he will be
able to compete in agility, he enjoys the obstacles, will have to get over
the whole trial situation. But we have years to work on that. I
am thinking that it is inevitable, Fletcher is my dog!
FLETCH:
An 1 yr old Border Collie mix, Fletch landed in a sea of Border Collies
and hasn't looked back since, having the time of his little life running
and chasing and playing!! He loves the dogs and would easily enjoy a
canine companion or even two. He is fantastic with other dogs and feels
most comfortable with dogs friends. He's gotten some of the older BC's
playing chase games again, very cute to see. Fletch is a bit shy with
people at first so needs a fairly calm home that is more dog oriented than
full of visitors. He will need confidence building, over time,
with a patient guardian. He's the sweetest little guy, full of puppy
innocence and having a great time discovering the great outdoors. He is
about 30 pounds, typical in size for his age and is good with cats. |
|
 |
GRIFF
landed at the Farm and 12 hours later into his new life! An adopter had
been waiting for a nice easy dog and he was it! A wonderful
BC/Aussie mix, this love bug is one happy boy now! |

  |
BO
found a new life with one of our campers who came to enjoy GHF and meet
potential dogs for their puppy. They had a chance to spend time with four
different dogs, watching to see the chemistry for that special magic. It
was Bo who made it all come together, happy to play with their 5 month old
pup, Meg and intensely ready for a relationship of play for himself, too.
Real Border Collie lovers, they knew he was the dog to suit them best and
off he went, to his new life! We'll see him this fall for agility camp! He
now lives in NY.
BO: A 2 year old Border Collie, Bo
is Mr Friendly, liking everyone he meets and hoping for a ball toss! He's
quickly become the Farm favorite, even amidst so many nice BC's here. He
is smart, focused, responsive and eager to bond. He really wants a person
who can connect with him, do things with him and enjoy a close friendship.
Bo is a classic BC who needs activities, not overly intense, but very
active for sure. He is good with other dogs but happiest with a person who
will play with him. He is about 40 pounds and not yet tested on cats. He
was a stray in PA in a shelter that thankfully works with GHF. He
is a really great boy.

ROZE
is joining the GHF Farm pack, enjoying hikes on the trails and lots of
ball play with her new BC friends. A soft girl with some worries of being
wrong, she's happy now without a lot of human pressure, just racing and
playing in the country. Gorgeous and sweet, she's home.
ROZE:
A 4 year old Border Collie, Roze is amazing. She's focused, fun and fast
and loves to work which means ball play. She is very agile and very
intelligent so could learn anything. She also settles beautifully once
inside but absolutely needs that stimulation of a toy playing BC home.
Roxe is very driven and very active, great off leash and would be a
wonderful hiking partner. She is good with other dogs and likes to herd
them but once a person shows up, she's eager to play. Roze is a 'soft' BC
so does best with positive motivation, not correction. She'll do
best with an active guardian but not a chaotic home. She would enjoy a
young male BC for racing, chasing and making up herding games. She is
about 40 pounds. Roze was abandoned at a NJ shelter.

RENO
passed peacefully July 8th freed from the body that was hindering him.
Rather than share my perspective on this very very special spirit
who graced the Farm, I wanted to share what he had to say to me and his
perspective. (click
here for Reno message)
Colleague and animal communicator Dawn Hayman assisted me with his
transition.
Teachers
arrive in all shapes and sizes in our lives and this boy Reno, was a
master. A spirited guy with tons of will, we are glad he came to us. We
spent six months watching him renew and heal, leading to this moment of
departure.
Lillie
RENO: A 10 -11 year old Border Collie,
Reno is full of spunk and likes to do things his way! He is spirited and
sweet and like many senior BC's, quite the character. He likes to trot
along checking everything out and perks right up to see other BC's. He can
move pretty fast even though his back end is a bit weak cause he's full of
determination. Reno can sees great though is deaf at this point, probably
due to old age. He is 46 pounds and not yet tested on cats. He was
found wandering outdoors one morning in upstate NY. The shelter
works with GHF so he quickly came to the Farm.

King's Angels
Kim, Russ, Alexi & Brook Burd
KING: A 7 year old Border Collie, King
is a happy guy who enjoys being with his person and also loves a good game
of ball. He is friendly and interested in what's going on around him,
though does take some time to sort out the details of a new situation and
get comfortable. His person is what's most important to his security so he
bonds really quickly and loves attention. King is a smart BC with all the
traits of a thoughtful dog who likes to make sense of his world. He is
carrying a lot of extra weight since he lived with an elderly woman who
shared her goodies a bit more than normal. He'll knock that weight off
fairly easily at the Farm. King is good with cats. He came to the
Farm from a PA guardian who was admitted to a nursing home. He originally
came from a farm in PA. |

Special thanks to
Kristine Hammar, Janine Choplick,
Susan Myers, and Debbie Grassi for transporting King to safety at
the Farm |

BISHOP
transformed into the most incredible little guy who wanted to meet
everyone in the world! He discovered a bigger life and never looked back,
eagerly embracing anything and everything! One day at agility, he even
jumped out of the X-pen and ran to an Assisted Living facility, to meet
the people he saw! So, now onto his new life with a wonderful family who
were smitten with him the minute they met. Not even ready to add a dog
again after the loss of their beloved canine friend, soon as they met him,
their hearts soared. He happily went into his new home like he'd been
there all his life. Bishop will have canine friends to meet and greet as
well the constant love of his new family. He now lives in Massachusetts
and his foster Mom will get to see him!
BISHOP:
a 1-1/2 year old border collie, Bishop is a wonderful classic border
collie. He has a nice balanced energy level, active and playful but
content to settle down too. He's very smart and thinks things
through and is almost always willing to try new experiences. Bishop
was part of the Texas confiscation, and his wonderful temperament and
brave spirit have enabled him to bounce back and greet life head on!
He is sweet, kind, polite, gentle and fun - he loves to play with
toys and will toss them around on his own for entertainment, flipping them
in the air with so much joy. He loves other dogs of all shapes and
sizes, and loves to herd too! Bishop is about 35 pounds and is not
good with cats. He came from a Texas confiscation.

KIP: A 4 year old Border Collie, Kip is
great. He loves to race, chase and play and would love another BC friend.
He is also Mr. People, all about a big hello and so friendly. He can be a
little bit timid but let's that go fast with someone who understands
Border Collies. He is very responsive and eager to bond. A food nut, he
would be easily trained and he's curious about everything. Kip is very
easy going. He does love his squeaky toys! He would be happiest with
another soft BC who likes to race, chase and play like he does! Kip
has also been started on agility and loves it. Kip is about 45 pounds,
normal for a BC and is good with cats. He came to the Farm from
someone who could not meet his needs. |
DOT
& KIP found a new life TOGETHER and we are thrilled for them!
These two absolutely adore each other and play like they've lived together
all their lives. It's a constant race, wrestle, chase, herding mania going
on all day long and even in their room! If there were ever two dogs that
belong together, it's these two and today's guardians made that all
possible, forever! They came to meet a couple of pairs but it was these
two that won their hearts so much, they knew they would fit perfectly in
their lives. Dot & Kip will have a wonderful yard full of things to
explore and be their guardian's constant companions! This duo is also very
food oriented so will be more than thrilled to have a home-cooked diet,
too!!!
DOT: A 2 year old Border Collie, Dot is
a doll. She loves people and loves to be involved in whatever is going on
around her. She is friendly, easy going and eager to connect. Dot is also
energetic and loves to play with other BC's. She is a racer and chaser and
fun to watch as she instigates play. She is fast and focused though more
happy go lucky than needing an intense outlet for her energy. She is very
smart and eager to please. Dot would be happiest with a male BC friend.
She is about 35 pounds and is good with cats. She came from a
guardian who could no longer meet her needs.

SURIE,
now affectionately known as Zinny has found her permanent home right with
her fosterers. They had seen her when she was going to the vet and quickly
raised their hands to help out. Of course, this sweet, gorgeous girl
stepped into their hearts forever and the poem says it all! She now lives
in NY.
I
was born into chaos and utter despair
Dogs and puppies were everywhere
From
that bad situation in Texas I flew on a plane
Glen Highland Farm where I had so much to gain
I
found a small haven in the shade of a tree
Where my new mom and dad felt so sorry for me
So
they asked dear Lillie if I could be fostered for a while - She said yes
and they all shared a smile
I’ve
been here awhile with the rest of the crew
We play and have fun. Who knew there was so much to do?
I
have my own dish and a warm cushy bed
I met my new vet; she says I’m well fed
I
greet every morning with my joyful howling song
Because I feel so happy that I have a place to belong
Now
my mom and my dad think I should stay
So we want to know, Lillie, if that is okay
They
still have so much to me they want to show
Like hiking and playing in the cold, white snow
So
from the Farm I’d be number SEVEN
Six here at home and dear Angel Meghan in heaven
I
thank you so much, Lillie, for caring for me
You’re truly an angel; it’s as clear as can be
So
if you’ll please post my BIG red heart
My parents and I will never be apart
SURIE: A 1 1/2 year old, Surie is gorgeous and curious but holds back
til she has the safety of another dog she knows. It takes her time to warm up and gain trust.
She came from the Texas confiscation. |

CAL: A 3 year old Border Collie, Cal is
Mr. Friendly, ready to say hello and so eager to please. He's a sweet guy
with an outgoing personality who also likes to play ball. Like any BC,
he's playful and energetic but Cal is a more settled dog perhaps because
for the last 3 years, he herded cattle in his former home. We're going to
check him out with sheep to see if a working home is the way to go now or
possibly, a fun, loving home will be better. Cal is a happy guy who likes
to cuddle and shadows you wherever you go so clearly wants his person
nearby. He is good with other dogs and cats. He is about 50 pounds. Cal
was abandoned at a PA shelter when the guardian gave up his cattle. |
HAILE
& CAL came to the Farm about a week apart and once paired as
roommates, clearly became buddies. So, when adopters came to see Haile,
they fell in love with her but had intended to get a puppy for the kids
and as a friend for Haile. They were focused on a young pup but upon
hearing how much she liked Cal, they decided to take a peek at him, too.
Well, within moments of meeting this sweet, soulful boy, the puppy idea
went out the window and Haile & Cal had a life together, forever!! As
sometimes happens at GHF, whatever is really meant to happen, will!!! They
both loved their new family and headed out to a great home with plenty of
love to go around.
HALIE: A 2 year old Border Collie,
Halie is a love-bug and ball nut, a great combination of fun and
sweetness. She is very smart and very eager to bond, loving everyone she
meets. She likes to play with any toy tossed her way including a frisbee.
She's good with other dogs but more oriented to interaction with her
person. She is very good natured and while active, not overly intense.
Halie is fine with cats and about 50 pounds, carrying a bit of weight that
will drop off with more activity. She came to rescue due to her PA
guardian's change in life and a move.

BLANE
found his forever home right in the foster home where he's been! As the
process started to review adoptive candidates, his fosterers felt their
hearts aching and knew they couldn't let go of this great pup! So, Blane
or 'big shot' as they affectionately call him, will live in Massachusetts
with a GHF alum!
BLANE: A 5 month old border collie (or
possibly mix), Blane is a happy guy! He is outgoing, sweet, smart, and all
about being with his person. He is gentle and cuddly! He loves dogs, all
kinds of toys, and water! He leaps up for the water shooting out from the
hose, splashes in the kiddy pool, very funny to see. He has a balanced
energy level, active and determined but also able to relax when play time
is over. He is focused and eager to please, and would love a close
relationship with a person. Blane is 26 pounds, about average for the
breed. He is best with dog savvy cats. Blane came from a rescue in
Kuwait.
|
 |

|
BLAIR,
just like his brother, Blane, traveled a very long way to the northeast,
in order to find loving guardians who really wanted them as companions to
adore. Well, Blair found the perfect person with the best canine friends,
including two GHF alums. He also found a life with lots of learning where
he'll be discovering how to use his mind and body in sports as well as
lots of fun challenges. His FurMom loves agility and enjoys trying
anything new to stimulate her dogs to be happier so this little guy, about
to have a new name, will clearly have the best life any BC could imagine!
His long flight to safe haven means a forever home filled with everything
he needs!
BLAIR: A 5 month old border collie (or
possibly mix), Blair is a blast! He is very smart and would love to have a
job to do. He is brave, athletic, and has great structure. He would be a
good candidate for sports like frisbee or agility. He loves to play in the
water hose, timing his leaps perfectly to grab the water. Blair also
settles nicely, happy to curl up close by, and even happier to snuggle
with his person. He also loves playing with other dogs. His coat appears
brown, but it is just sunburned puppy fur, and will be black with new
growth. Blair is 23 pounds, about average for the breed, and has not been
tested with cats. Blair came from a rescue in Kuwait.

GILIS: A 1 yr old Border Collie
mix, Gilis is a love. He is Mr. Friendly, eager to say hi to everyone and
join in anything going on around him. His great personality makes everyone
love him and for that, he's quite the ham! Gilis loves toys and loves
dogs, too, both equally but we know he'd be happiest having a great friend
for lots of play. He fits with any dog he meets and has great energy to
race and chase and make up doggie games. He is good with cats, too. Gilis
was born with an eye that did not develop properly (it's very tiny) - so
from birth, he has only had sight in one eye. He manages just fine doing everything
and anything a young BC mix likes to do! He is from a NJ shelter,
turned in for his energy needs.
|
GILIS
& RUBY found a life of seriously good fun - a pool! and toys! and
people who love to chuckle at the antics of Border Collies! The perfect
fit for them. These two wrestle and roll together like kindred spirits and
then focus all that BC brilliance right on the ball, back to work! An
adorable pair with a wonderful family who drove 8 hours to find their new
friends - we are thrilled for everyone involved! They now live in Maine,
cherished forever.
RUBY: A 5 month old Border Collie, Ruby
loves to play, racing around at high speed in chase games with her dog
friends at the Farm. She is all action and the happiest with a pal. SHe is
smart and responsive to people, very food oriented and ready to learn
whatever you want to teach her. SHe is quite affectionate and loves
everyone she meets. Ruby is about 25 pounds and typical in size for her
age. She will do best with dog savvy cats. Ruby was relinquished to
the Farm from a NY guardian who could not meet her needs while living in
an apartment in the city.
|

 |
NEILA,
though camera shy, was actually the happiest girl with her new guardians,
cuddling and playing non-stop. They love to throw the frisbee as much as
she loves to catch it! And, she and her new BC friend hit it off well,
both thinking exactly the same way - toys, toys toys! Neila showed her
lovey side too as she charmed them to no end. Neila now lives in Canada
right on the water where she'll get a chance to swim everyday and of
course, play which she loves!
NEILA: A petite 1 year old Border
Collie, Neila is a very smart girl who loves to focus her energy on
learning or doing something, even sheepherding which she tried at camp!
She's all about an activity that challenges her. She is also super sweet
with everyone she meets and very affectionate. Neila is good with other
BC's but best with a male since she has some controlling female tendencies
with other dogs, very common in the breed. She is about 25 pounds and fine
with cats. Neila will not be placed on an invisible fence system as
she has many fears from her past situation with one.

ZEKE
happily hopped up on the couch to sit near his new guardians and had no
interest in leaving! In fact, when they were ready to move on to see two
additional candidates to adopt, Zeke didn't want to leave the adoption
office at all. So, when it was time for him to return, he bolted through
the gate and the field and zoomed right back to the adoption office and
their laps! And, as they say, the rest is history. Zeke now lives in VA
where he'll be the center of attention and plenty of time for ball play
and lots of love.
ZEKE: A 1 1/2 year old Border Collie,
Zeke is a very smart boy who wants to connect with his person and quickly
responds to what is asked of him. He is a really sweet guy, super
affectionate with people. He also loves toys! Zeke is a very energetic guy
who needs someone to do something with him - ball play, hikes, even sports
- but either way, he's not a lay around kind of BC. He loves to meet new
people and does well with everyone. He tends to be overly excited
meeting new dogs so would do best as a solo dog and/ or with someone who
can help handle dog introductions. Zeke is very eager to please and can be
guided. While Zeke is a sweet, good natured guy, he will do best in a BC
savvy home. He is about 45 pounds and good with cats. He was
turned into a North Carolina shelter and then moved to a CT shelter so he
would have a better chance to find his forever home. A shelter
favorite, they were happy to see him come to rescue to find just the right
BC home.

Beautiful
BEECH found relief on the other side Thursday, as we let her go. A liver
tumor was detected on Tues. at Cornell and quick determination was made
that surgery was not advised. She was only with us for two months but made
quite the impression with all who knew her - a sweetheart who joined in
easily, fitting any situation. Beech was a delight and full of love. She
loved a cool lay in the shade to watch the world go by or a quick bolt
across the yard, like a puppy. She thankfully had the full attention and
caring of her foster Mom who adored her as Beech was her constant
companion. Though Beech's body couldn't carry her on, her marvelous spirit
certainly will live on. |

Sweet
KENT popped up in a NJ shelter who wanted help from rescue. Lucky
for Kent, who was only 6 months old, someone we know was willing to foster
him right away. Of course, this little guy won her heart and he's staying
put! He now will get to do agility, herding and enjoy an incredible doggie
life filled with love and plenty to do! |

 |
KADE
has been waiting for just the right fit for him. He came to GHF super
scared, slinking along the grass afraid to stand up and over the last 8
months, he learned to not only stand up straight and tall, he learned to
play. He loves to play with dogs and began to have a blast, racing,
chasing, herding and wrestling. But, something else happened over these
months. Kade began to love people. He put his big fear aside and would go
over for affection and share his sweet nature to those who were patient.
And, then, during kids camp this summer when he was paired with one of the
inner city children - he showed just how magnificent his heart really is -
he transformed the child assigned to help him and he was transformed
by them! Watching Kade cuddle with his child and bravely try obedience and
the agility course, brought tears to everyone's eyes. We all applauded as
this shy little guy put aside his worries and gave his whole heart.
And, now, he's going to give his heart full
time to his new guardian who fell in love with him. She came to volunteer
and it was Kade who got the first night in the adoption office. His charm
and her kind, gentle ways made the perfect match, forever. We are all so
incredibly happy for this wonderful boy and his new FurMom.
A special thanks to Ashley Porter for
pulling him out of an awful situation; for Lori Coon & her family who
were his first fosterer and for the entire GHF caretakers who gave sweet
Kade all that he needed to believe that a great life was his to
have!
Kade is going back to Vermont and will live
the life he richly deserves. We will miss him.
KADE:
A 1 year old Border Collie, Kade is a happy, good natured guy who really
wants to have a blast in life and is learning that it's possible. He
absolutely loves other dogs and needs a good canine friend for sure. He's
super sweet and gentle but loves to play physically with other dogs so a
good natured young dog is the right fit for him. Kade is a gorgeous boy in
person and will blossom into a marvelous friend once he has more
experiences in life. He is about 35 pounds and good with cats. He
was relinquished to the Farm from a breeder who could not sell him. He is
from VT. We feel a hard fence would be better than an
invisible fence since this Kade is a soft dog who could become worried by
the system.

Sweet,
smart SARGE found the most marvelous home suited just to him! He's
joining a family of canine friends where he'll have a blast doing agility
and any other sport he enjoys. But, more importantly, he was chosen to be
their new Search and Rescue dog for disaster work. His new guardians were
visiting campers back at GHF for vacation and asked about a young BC. When
they explained what they were looking for, it was so clear it was Sarge's
new calling. He is one of the most confident, curious and bold pups who
goes anywhere to see anything with no worries at all - just one happy,
outgoing boy! So, Sarge, now called Edwin is on his way to sharing his big
loving heart and his incredible natural ability to explore the world! He
now lives in MD where he'll also enjoy lots of water fun too on their
boat!
SARGE:
Now,
three months old, this sweet pup loves the action of puppy play and
meeting other dogs. He is hilarious to watch as he interacts with all the
adult dogs, so excited to race and chase and follow their lead. Sarge is
very outgoing and eager to join in everything. He's confident, curious and
really good natured. Sarge also loves cuddling and being with people,
giving his puppy kisses easily. This little guy is
one smart boy eager to enjoy life. Sarge was abandon at a MD
shelter.

SONNY
found wonderful guardians who love the breed and wanted to add another
smart, fun-loving, focused BC and so they did! Sonny charmed them with his
sweet nature as well as ball play but most importantly, he clearly chose
them too, hanging with them as they walked the field and happy to settle
by their feet as they sat outside to talk over their decision. Sonny, now
known as Finn, had cast his vote very happy to be with them and also
loving to play with his new BC friend! They chased and raced and made up
their own game instantly! Sonny/Finn now lives in NY.
SONNY: A 2 year old Border Collie,
Sonny is a really sweet guy, very comfortable meeting
people and eager to do so. He also loves toys and wants to enjoy lots of
play but he's a cuddler, too. Sonny loves attention and being next to his
person. He is smart and focused but not overly intense. He is great with
other dogs, enjoying the play of a group or a canine friend. Sonny is not
yet tested on cats. He came to the Farm from a PA shelter.
The b/w ticking on his face make his muzzle look very wide but it is not
at all.
